Tutorial 7:
Using the left over images from RA & C&C 1.

Overview
The purpose of this tutorial is to teach you to how to use the custom image property in SE2K to make use of the units that were left over from Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn.

NOTE!:You will need beta 7.0 or later for this tutorial. If you haven't already got this version or a later version, I suggest you download it ASAP!

Tutorial

This tutorial will tell you how to use the hidden units in TS. These are shown below....

Note: The Mobile Artillery seems to have a slight problem with the barrel. It seems to float about 6 foot above the vehicle. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know! :o)

OK, first thing, download this file. This file is the modified Art.INI file you will need to access these units. Downloaded it? Good, we can continue then. Unzip the file & remember where you unzipped it to! Load SunEdit2K, from the Settings Menu, select the Advanced Editing menu, then the INI files Menu and then select Art.INI.
The text editor should now appear. Click on the Open file button (left most on the toolbar) & select the unzipped art.ini file. This will then replace the standard Art.INI with the art.ini that includes the new units. If you look down the list on the left of the text editor, you should see some new items, namely 1TNK,2TNK,3TNK and 4TNK, these are 4 of the new images.

Now, to use these new units, you will need to enter the correct ID into the fields of the vehicles. Ok the vehicle settings window you have a custom image setting (just to the right of the Image drop down). In this box you will need to type the ID.

Firstly, select the Titan and click the clone button. Now change it's name to the unit that you are going to create (i.e. Heavy Tank), or whatever you like. In the Custom Image enter the relevant ID from the table below (must be in capitals). When you've done that, change the Moves Like setting to Ground Vehicles. Otherwise the game will crash when you build it.

Graphic ID  Unit Name
1TNK Light Tank
ARTY Mobile Artillery
MNLY APC
3TNK Heavy Tank
TRUK Troop Transport
MRJ Mobile Radar Jammer
FTNK Flame Tank
2TNK Med Tank

Once you've entered that info, you can go and setup the rest of the unit's settings as you see fit. As long as you have the Moves Like setting set to Ground Vehicles and the Movement Zone set to Destroyer, it should work fine.

There you go, that straight forward :)
